Research Stream - Call For Abstracts


The 2017 CPRS National Conference is scheduled for May 28 to 30, 2017 and the Research Stream is currently accepting abstracts for peer review.

Initial paper acceptance is based on a one-page abstract submitted for consideration on or before January 30, 2017. Abstracts must demonstrate innovative and original research in public relations and professional communication.

All abstracts will be peer reviewed and upon acceptance, authors will be asked to submit their full presentation by May 15, 2017.

In order to attend, presenters must pay the Day Rate for the date they're scheduled to present or the Full Conference Registration rate should they wish to attend the entire event.  Special rates may apply. Please contact us for details.

General Instructions for Submitting Abstracts:

  • All abstracts are due Jan. 30, 2017. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words.

  • All submissions must include the author(s), affiliation(s), title(s) and contact information ONLY in the spaces provided on the submission form.

  • Upon acceptance, authors must submit their slides by May 15, 2017.

  • Authors will be advised about the date and time of the Research session once the conference program is finalized.

Presentations will be limited to 30 minutes, including Q&As. .

Abstract Submission Process:

  • Only Abstracts submitted through our online form, found here, will be considered.

  • Your proposal will be forwarded to the 2017 CPRS Research Stream Committee, after which it will undergo a blind peer review by Committee members.

After Your Abstract Submission is Received:

The 2017 CPRS Research Stream Committee will evaluate each abstract and accept those that best meet the selection criteria of:

  • relevance to the conference theme of "ILLUMINATE” 

  • clarity of research topic

  • contribution to knowledge and understandings of Public Relations and Communication Management theory and practice

The three-day program will explore many facets of the PR industry. Topics around which research could focus include but are not limited to:

  • Internal and external communications

  • Government and stakeholder communications

  • Crisis, risk and issues management communications

  • Working with traditional and non-traditional media

  • Communication research and technology

  • Disruption theory

Presenter’s Agreement and Communication:

CPRS acknowledges that the copyright for all research remains with the Researcher.

CPRS reserves the right to include all materials on the CPRS member-only website.

Each selected researcher agrees to provide a brief personal profile (150 word maximum in French and English, if possible) and a photograph to accompany the abstract on the CPRS website.
